Nicole O'Loughlin: Nature/Nurture

16 October - 7 November 2026
Overview

EXHIBITION COMING ONLINE SOON

OPENING NIGHT: FRIDAY 16 OCTOBER, 2026, 5.30pm

In this exhibition, O'Loughlin explores her personal connection to the landscape as a woman and caretaker of her home and studio, and of the living world that surrounds it. She muses on the threat of bird flu as she considers her relationship with the birds and animals that flourish among the creeks and grasses.

Nicole O'Loughlin is a visual artist who works across textiles, painting, drawing and printmaking. Her work is concerned with the socio-political and explores women's narratives.

Based in the Derwent Valley, Lutruwita/Tasmania, she works from her studio, drawing inspiration from her surroundings and responding to current societal issues.

Nicole's work is held in national, state, and private collections. She has undertaken residencies in Argentina, China, and on the remote, windswept Maatsuyker Island. Her work has been selected for significant national art prizes, where she has received Lester Prize Highly Commended (2019), Hadley's Packers Prize (2022), and Paul Guest People's Choice award (2020), and in 2023 she won the Henry Jones Art Prize mixed media category.
