Nancy Mauro Flude is an artist whose research contributes to the transdisciplinary space of performance art, feminist media studies and computer subculture. She is driven by the demystification of technology, and the ‘mystification’ that lie in and through the performance of the machinic assemblage. Gray magics, hijackings, driftings and seizures of power the sensitive and subversive subterfuges by which she urges, twists and explores the aesthetic politic of the open source spirit.
Her contributions have been recognised in a range of national and international arenas, such as; Transmediale Festival of Digital Art, Berlin; Radical Networks, Eyebeam, New York; Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, DarkMofo; Contemporary Art Tasmania; KunstHalle, Vienna; v2, Rotterdam; Gallery Vermelho, Sao Paulo; Artspace, Sydney; Eastern Bloc, Montreal; Netherlands New Media Art Institute, Amsterdam; Brighton Festival, UK; ArtScience Museum, Singapore. In 2018 she was selected to represent Australia staging Divination (2016) a networked performance about cyber security at the Beijing Media Arts Biennale in China. Dr Mauro-Flude leads the Holistic Computing Aesthetics Network, coordinates of Emerging Digital Cultures, School of Design RMIT University.
