There is always the truth
No, there is only what can be believed
Paul Scott - The Jewel in the Crown
The
pastel series Nobody Knows Anything represents a further
exploration of my favourite drawing medium, dry pastel pigment on paper
and my ongoing approach to drawing as a series of 'propositions' [nouns]
rather than as a 'process' or an act [verb].
My preference for pastel is
because it gives such velvety subtle surface qualities and its amazing
tonal possibilities, particularly when using white pigment.
Also this body of work
demonstrates my personal rejection of the notion that drawing is a process
which should show traces of its own making. My approach is more
'projective'. I like to imagine or construct an image before I draw
it or to create a private world.
