In 1907 Dr. FERDINAND PORSCHE built the first ever petrol-electric hybrid car. It had four-wheel drive & was successful in motor sport. Later Porsche met with Adolf Hitler at the Hotel Kaiserhof to discuss the design of a volks-wagen (people’s car). Porsche was short of time so he borrowed a design by Hans Ledwinka & passed it off as his own. Hitler loved it, “It looks like a Beetle!” he said, & Porsche got the gig. At the end of WWII Porsche was invited by the French to come & help design their own people’s car. He went to France & was immediately arrested for war crimes. A dirty trick! He spent two years in jail without trial, but got the first Porsche, the 356, into production just before he died.
