Artist Statement
This new
group of work brings together ideas from childhood, storytelling and fairy
tales with each character representing a dark or happy episode from the
past.
Insecurities as a child, wondering if there really is a boogieman in the
closet or a monster under the bed, are reflected in the real world as much
as in the imagination.
Using
creative imagination as a way of connecting with reality, my
characters represent an idea or a feeling presented in a somewhat
childlike, dark but comic fashion.
Each
sculpture is created as a way of understanding and processing personal
thoughts about life, death, darkness and hope. |
