"I was born in Burnie, Tasmania in 1969. My father was an underground miner which meant the family moved house a great deal. I attended many different schools across Australia before ending up back on the northwest coast of Tasmania. I studied fine art at the University of Tasmania from 1988 and 1993 and whilst there, discovered performance poetry. The words and the visual art have remained entangled ever since. I qualified as a Library Technician in 2006 while living in Melbourne and have since returned to Tasmania. I have established my studio in North Hobart." - Mande Bijelic |
